Introduction

Repeating self-kindness often is powerful

When you practice kindness and compassion, you physically change your brain, and the more you practice something the easier it becomes. This section is all about taking small steps to strengthen your kindfulness (mindful kindness) muscles.

As Dr David Hamilton writes in The Little Book of Kindness:

“Any practice performed regularly changes the brain through neuroplasticity. The more we practise, the more the brain changes, the bigger the “muscle” becomes, and the easier it becomes to perform the practice… and so we can give our brain a workout, shaping it in positive ways. A mindful practice of kindness builds our brain’s kindness muscles. As a result, the more we practice kindfulness in different forms, the better we become at kindfulness, and the easier kindfulness becomes for us.”

Try it and see.
